10 Famous American Actors With Awful British Accents

6. Anne Hathaway - One Day (2011)

one day

Another attempt at a Northern accent here from the gorgeous Anne Hathaway €“ and she fairs a lot better than Josh Hartnett, let me tell you, so she should be applauded for that. But it's still not great by a long shot. Sorry Anne. An adaptation of the best-selling book, One Day sees Hathaway in a romantic comedy and valiantly attempting a Yorkshire twang €“ understandably difficult for someone born in Brooklyn. She struggles as she slips back and forth from American with her radical pronunciations, and zones in on a posh British accent on many occasions, leaving the Yorkshire out of the mix €“ which pretty much misses the point entirely. The poor girl apparently watched a lot of Emmerdale for inspiration in her research to perfect the Northern nuances, so she gets brownie points for having to endure the escapades of Paddy and Marlon. Ah well, maybe one day she'll get it right...

Steven feels like a sociopath writing a bio about himself in third person, but it feels kind of nice, and he's sure he'll get used to it.
