10 Franchises That Killed Off The Wrong Person

7. Sirius Black - Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Why He Shouldn't Have Died:

The Harry Potter franchise is somewhat wanting when it comes to badasses. Oh sure, there are those that will argue in favour of the last-minute turns of Ron or Neville into heroes, or suggest that Dumbledore's slightly doddering demeanour was concealing a hidden coolness, or even that Snape should be considered the true protagonist of the series.

But, basically, the only cool character in the whole of Harry Potter was Sirius Black. The Boy Who Lived's godfather managed to survive life in a wizard prison and escape. Gary Oldman was great in the part too. What a waste.

Who Should've Died Instead:

J.K. Rowling is not a great writer. In terms of prose style she kind of sucks, but she tends to be much better with the plots. Except when the Harry Potter series began to "mature" - she just started killing off characters, to the point that it became less good storytelling and more giving the fans what they expected.

If somebody had to die in The Order Of The Phoenix, Sirius could've come out of that battle with Bellatrix as the victor, no? It's not like Bellatrix has much to do after that point apart from her final moments.
