Comedian Shows Off, Pays Price
Being a stand-up comedian inevitably requires a certain commitment to showmanship: you have to be confident enough to stand in front of a crowd, knowing their expectations are simply, but dauntingly to laugh solidly for 90 minutes, and you have to be devoid of the kind of hang-ups that make clowning around seem like a bad idea. Russell Howard, the British comedian who almost perpetually seems to be on TV screens at the moment has the skills to make his audience helpless with laughter, and his prowess has lead to him being given a long-running, topical TV show called Russell Howard's Good News, which essentially recycles news stories and internet content. In one unintentionally hilarious episode, Howard squared off with a stuntman for a set-up skit that involved some stunt props, and got a lot more than he bargained for when attempting to do a press-up on a stool that had been intentionally weakened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IskRqa_Fql8
