10 Giant Movie Plot Holes That Everyone Chooses To Ignore

10. It's Always After Midnight - Gremlins

Warner Bros.

Billy Peltzer had only three rules to follow: don't expose his new, weird furball of a pet to bright light, don't get it wet and don't, under any circumstance, feed it after midnight. So what does he go and do? All of them, raining mayhem down on his quiet little suburb after a post-midnight feeding frenzy cooks up a whole host of gremlins to terrorise the townsfolk.

But there's one thing that doesn't quite make sense. At the risk of sounding like a philosophical new-age DJ, it's always after midnight - so where exactly is the cut-off point for feeding Mogwais? Surely the only time before midnight came on the Earth's very first day; then 00:00 hit, and everything after that has ever since technically been after midnight.

But you know what - who cares? Gremlins isn't about logic - it's about furry little creatures, then more furry little creatures, then nasty green creatures, then nasty green creatures getting set ablaze, microwaved and decapitated. Oh what fun.
