7. Steve Buscemi

Although he is still a much sought-after actor, Steve Buscemi has yet to receive an Oscar nomination for any of his terrific performances over the last 25 years. Buscemi has been one of the most notable actors featured in some of the most celebrated indie films of the 1980s and 90s, yet no Oscar nominations were given in return. One of his earliest acclaimed performances was that of the wiry and thrifty jewel thief Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs, yet a Best Supporting Actor nomination was not given to Buscemi by the Academy. He followed his work in Reservoir Dogs in 1996 with his blistering performance as the short tempered kidnapper Carl in Fargo. Fargo was nominated for 7 Oscars, yet the love stopped at Buscemi and he was skunked again for another Best Supporting Actor nomination. His best chance at nabbing a nomination was in 1998 for his performance as the sad and lonely Seymour in Ghost World, but he was once again snubbed by the Academy for Best Supporting Actor. Over the last few years Buscemi has found much bigger success on TV, earning Emmy nominations for his work on The Sopranos, 30 Rock and Boardwalk Empire. Here's hoping the next time he delivers another masterful performance in a film the Academy stops to take notice.
