10 Great Characters Who Could Replace Marvel Movie Heroes (And Who Should Play Them)

10. Female Thor

The God of Thunder might not strike you as someone who€™s easily replaceable, given that his age stretches into millennia and the Asgardian prince tends to take on no superhero alias other than his own name. That said, there have been quite a few precedents for the Odinson being stripped off his powers and his hammer Mjolnir handed off to a worthy successor. In fact, that€™s happening right now as the hammer of Thor is about to be picked up by a mysterious new female character who actually possesses the power to change Mjolnir€™s very inscription. And that sounds kind of kick-ass to us. A female Thor could bring a whole new set of fans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe €“ ones who don€™t just want to see women portrayed as love interests, tough but still minor characters or complex but still only supporting characters. Thor is arguably the most powerful hero Marvel has, and seeing the kind of power, heroism and complexity the MCU has imbued their version of the character with in a woman would definitely be cause for celebration. Of course, it doesn€™t seem like Chris Hemsworth plans on leaving any time soon, but if the rumblings concerning Thor 3 and Ragnarok have any weight to them, he might not be vacating his seat at Odin€™s side sooner rather than later... But who to play a lady Thor? Well, how could it not be Brienne of Tarth herself, Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie?
