10 Greatest Horror Movies Of The 21st Century

3. Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

The world of cinema would be a lesser place if it weren€™t for this modern comedy horror classic from the brilliant minds of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. We follow Pegg€™s slacker Shaun who is going nowhere fast and has a girlfriend who€™s finally had enough of his unmotivated ways. It only takes Britain being overtaken by a zombie plague for him to buck up and change his ways, going on a mission to rescue his mum and former girlfriend with the help of his even more laid back best buddy Ed (Nick Frost). It may lean more towards comedy than horror but importantly it treats the horrific zombie elements of the story with the serious danger they deserve. Wright€™s trademark fast-paced direction gives it a loveable energy but it€™s the perfect script that really makes this one stand out, one that strikes the perfect balance of being both a send-up of all those other zombie movies we know but also a fantastic entry into the horror subgenre in its own right.
