10 Greatest Movies Never Made

10. Rendezvous With Rama

Sony Pictures

Rendezvous with Rama was always going to be targeted for a cinematic adaptation. Sci-fi does huge box-office and as Arthur C. Clarke was the author of the novel, Hollywood was guaranteed to lap it up. Morgan Freeman has been attached to produce the movie for over a decade, and it could be considered his dream project, but despite Freeman's star power, numerous problems have arisen.

There have been continuing difficulties with financing despite David Fincher, the director of Fight Club and Se7en, coming on board as early as 2001. The virtually unknown Stel Pavlou is said to be working on the script but he is most famous for his fiction novels, and not screenwriting, of which he only has one credit - The 51st State. There have also been concerns over technology regarding the film and the format in which it will be made, and that's not taking in to account David Fincher's relentless schedule which could continue to push back the film. Despite rumours to the contrary, Fincher is still attached and working on the epic sci-fi extravaganza, but it's impossible to say whether the project has any actual future.
