10 Haunting Movies That F*ck With Your Mind

3. Mulholland Drive (2001)

There are some people who will say that Mulholland Drive isn't a horror movie. But how can that be true of a film that contains what is arguably the scariest, most gut-wrenchingly terrifying scene in any motion picture, ever? The "Winkie's Scene," as it has come to be known, has cemented itself as a near unrivalled moment of cinematic horror - if you've seen it, chances are that you won't have forgotten about it since (do not watch it alone). The moment, contained within David Lynch's strange, unparalleled, nightmarish neo noir/thriller flick (though this is the sort of film that defies all labels, really), ensures the movie at least has a toe (or maybe a leg) dipped into the waters of the horror genre. Mulholland Drive's plot is baffling, and it's not only one of the most mind-bending movies in the horror genre, but of all-time. In fact, it's pretty much the definitive "melt your brain" flick. Naturally, you need to check it out, as everyone will have a different take on its near incomprehensible - and somehow gripping - story. Prepare to be unnerved and confused.
