10 High-Profile 2019 Movies You Should Be Worried About

The Movie:

33 years later, Tom Cruise returns to the role that turned him into a megastar, with previous Cruise collaborator Joseph Kosinski taking over behind the camera from the late Tony Scott. Val Kilmer also returns to feel the need, the need for speed.

Why You Should Be Worried:

One of the cheesiest blockbusters ever made, Top Gun was never a movie that was crying out for a sequel, especially one that's finally arriving over three decades later. Part of the appeal of the original was Tony Scott's handling of the aerial scenes. Kosinski's work has shown that he's got a knack for world-building, but his direction has always been workmanlike at best.

The only new additions to the cast that have been announced so far have been Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, with the latter suiting up to play the son of Goose. There is no denying that Teller is a good actor, but he has always seemed uncomfortable operating in the big-budget realm as Divergent and Fant4stic have shown.

In short, the whole endeavor seems entirely unnecessary and more than a little pointless because its going to be incredibly difficult to even attempt to recapture the sheer camp hilarity of the original, although Tom Cruise is probably going to do something batsh*t crazy once given the keys to a fighter plane.

And if anyone dares even attempt to do to Kenny Loggins' Danger Zone what Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott did to the Ghostbusters theme tune, there will be hell to pay...

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
