10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2017 (So Far) - Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Transformers: The Last Knight

Logan Hugh Jackman
Paramount

After ten years, you know what to expect from the Transformers franchise; loud noises, incomprehensible plotting, wooden acting, blatant product placement and massive-scale action sequences. The Last Knight delivers all of this in spades, with the end result being a clear signal that the series is coasting on fumes.

For a franchise that has never exactly been a critical darling, Michael Bay's fifth instalment almost-impressively managed to become the worst-reviewed entry yet, which is hardly encouraging given the highly-publicized tales of the Transformers writers room featuring twelve people working on up to fourteen separate projects in an effort to wring every last ounce of profit out of the property.

Domestic audiences have spoken, with The Last Knight earning significantly less Stateside than all of its predecessors, but its doubtful that Paramount will stop churning Transformers movies out on a regular basis when they still remain incredibly lucrative in China. Which is a sad state of affairs, because this is a franchise that has gone way past creative bankruptcy.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
