9. Indian Take-Him-Away: Short Circuit

If you think casting Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson is unbelievable, wait till you see Fisher Stevens in Short Circuit. The unavoidably white actor took a dusting of cocoa powder to the face for an astonishingly outdated turn as Indian tech master Ben Jabituya, operating as comedy support to flailing robot dude Johnny Five, who unfortunately was alive. Stevens was a minor character in the first movie, but a mere two years away from 1990 producers decided to stick him on top billing for the sequel. In Short Circuit 2 there was no getting away from his exaggerated accent and ethnic schtick, which was about as convincing as a bag of ASDA bombay mix. Peter Sellers displayed a penchant for going Indian, but had the excuse he was doing it at a time where it was socially acceptable to blur such boundaries.
