10 Hilarious Movies That Were Supposed to be Serious

3. The Room (2003)

The Room feels like it was made as an attempt to communicate with humanity by an alien race that's imbibed nothing but Earth soap operas as entertainment. Or perhaps a better description would be that the dialogue sounds as if it started out as something coherent, and then was run through Babelfish a dozen times before being re-translated to English. Or maybe it's that Tommy Wiseau (Whom I can attest through personal interaction to be a thoroughly, delightfully unhinged individual) had abducted his cast, and had a gun pointed at every other actor's back during filming. Whatever the case, the result is this abomination. Wiseau later claimed that the movie is actually totally meant to be funny. He's a liar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaVf6sxBSYk

Dan Schindel loves movies more than you do. He considers it an accomplishment to have survived a year and counting in Los Angeles. Someday, he'll be the greatest critic in the world. He spent a year watching a documentary every day, so now he knows everything.
