10 Hyped 2017 Movies That Will Definitely Disappoint You
9. Alien: Covenant
The Hype: Ridley Scott's latest foray into the Alien franchise, a sequel to Prometheus that nevertheless intends to plant its roots much closer to the core Alien movies. The cast is stacked, and Michael Fassbender plays two androids this time, which frankly sounds awesome.
Why It Will Disappoint: After Prometheus thoroughly underwhelmed fans it's hard to be all-in on this one, though that hasn't stopped the hype train ramping up significantly in recent months.
Consider that John Logan (Gladiator, Skyfall) is writing the screenplay, whose history with the sci-fi genre isn't exactly stellar (The Time Machine, Star Trek Nemesis), and it's easy to be at least a little skeptical of this one.
While there's little doubt the cast and cinematography will deliver, the first trailer wasn't exactly a mind-blower, and the possibly greater focus on gore over suspense could make it pale in comparison to its forebears.
