10 Iconic Movie Scenes You Won't Admit Have Aged Terribly

Some special effects simply don't cut it in this day and age...

There's nothing like viewing classic movies through nostalgia-tinted glasses. For one thing it makes it so much easier to overlook the technical flaws and forgive it for how badly the special effects have aged. Special effects have come on in leaps and bounds since the early days of cinema - few people look back at the horror and science fiction B-movies of the 1950s and find them anywhere near as scary and impressive as audiences did upon their release. The late 1970s onwards saw another generation of movies where visual effects progressed at a rapid pace, and many of the great films of the era are still considered absolute classics to this day. But many fans of these movies are unlikely to admit that some of the effects have aged pretty terribly, to put it mildly. Whether it's bad animatronics or stop motion or unconvincing early CGI where masking layers are as plain as can be, these iconic scenes have aged far worse than is often acknowledged. It doesn't stop them from being great films, of course, but they don't stack up against the best effects the film industry has to offer today. The following list covers ten such iconic scenes from truly great movies which few fans are willing to admit have aged terribly.
