9. Jared Leto Chapter 27 (2007)
In order to portray Mark David Chapman, John Lennons killer, Jared Leto gained more than 60 pounds for Chapter 27. The dramatic weight gain resulted in Leto needing a wheelchair for a short time, possibly due to gout, according to the
Boston Globe. Just in case you think he got fat the fun way, he told the
LA Times he gained the weight by drinking microwaved ice cream mixed with soy sauce and olive oil. Just try that for a midnight snack, and then comment below after youve puked it all up. Like 50 Cent, he not only didnt even see a nomination, his performance got poor reviews. But this isnt the first time Leto has undergone transformation without reward, he shed pounds for Requiem for a Dream, which received much better reviews. It just seems the Academy doesnt care about looks, even if it means a ruined-looking rock star, unless they see great acting or politicking, if catty rumors are to be believed.
