10. Jiro Dreams Of Sushi (2012)

One of the more recent documentaries to make this list, Jiro Dreams Of Sushi follows the story of Jiro Ono and the day-to-day management of his Michelin three-star sushi restaurant Sukiyabashi Jiro. Released in 2012 to critical praise, the film chronicles the life of Jiro from a young boy through to adulthood and examines the emotional consequences of his unending journey to perfect the art of sushi. Though the principle subject of the film is raw fish (which might admittedly be a niche interest), there€™s still plenty of material to find inspirational. Jiro€™s ambition and drive for success despite his disadvantaged start is compelling stuff, not to mention the craftsmanship and artistry that goes into the preparation of his sushi. And at times, the film can be quite unsettling, portraying Jiro as a somewhat obsessed patriarch imposing his own dreams on his two sons Takashi and Yoshikazu, each of whom is hesitant to follow in their father's footsteps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYN7p8dvr64 Considering the critical and commercial success of Jiro Dreams of Sushi, you might be surprised to discover that the film has been sitting on Youtube since September last year. Just remember, if you find yourself particularly inspired, pick up the DVD at some point to support the filmmaker.
