10 Jaw-Dropping Death Scenes That Blew Audiences' Minds

9. Going Head First In The Coffee Table - Lost Highway

The cinema of David Lynch traffics in disturbing images rendered in the most unsettling way imaginable. Lynch brought the full power of his unparalleled prowess for the macabre to bear in 1997's Lost Highway, especially in the ninth entry on our list. The death scene in question occurs late in the film, when the protagonist, Pete, breaks into porno kingpin Andy's house to rescue his lady love. Andy doesn't take kindly to this intrusion and the pair grapple. In an insanely out of nowhere moment, Andy trips, flies at a glass coffee table, and has his head cleft nearly in two when he lands forehead-first on the coffee table. When you see it, the only logical response is to let your mandible hit the floor in astonishment.
