10 Legendary Directors Who Would Have Made Great James Bond Films

9. Victor Fleming

flemingvictor1 This one may seem an odd choice... allow me to elaborate. Victor Fleming is well remembered for his family fare (Wizard of Oz and Treasure Island among others). While this may seem ill-suited to James Bond, remember that Ian Fleming himself was adept at writing family entertainment, such as penning Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Likewise, Roald Dahl, best remembered for his children's novels, wrote the screenplay for Connery's penultimate film You Only Live Twice. While it has a divided opinion amongst movie fans, it featured more iconic moments that any other Bond movie (aside from perhaps Goldfinger), and was a massive success at the box office. So I think it stands to reason that the man responsible for the most iconic family film of all, Wizard of Oz, could have easily provided us with an equally memorable James Bond movie. He also directed that one other movie some people kinda liked. Gone With the Wind or something like that....
