10 Long-Awaited Movie Moments That Failed To Live Up To The Hype

9. The Battle of Hogwarts - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II

Battle of Hogwarts It's same to assume that nobody alive right now doesn't know that the Harry Potter story is a super-long one, consisting of seven books and eight movie adaptations (the last book was split into two separate movies, 'cause money). So by the time the final movie in the series came about, fans of the J.K. Rowling's wonderful boy wizard-orientated novels were invariably pumped and primed for what was going to be the highlight of the final book: the Battle of Hogwarts. Spells would be cast, characters would be killed... it would be a truly epic and memorable finish. And though director David Yates sort of captures the mania of the battle in parts, mostly he fails to create the scope and grandeur that such a sequence requires. Of course, that wouldn't be too bad if the Battle of Hogwarts felt like the finale that it's supposed to be - we'd waited almost 10 years to get to this point in the series, after all, but the scenes just follow on one from another, as if ticking off plot points. It's the most devastating, nail-batting set-piece in Harry Potter history, and... well, it suffers from being too forgettable. Say what you want about Chris Columbus, who helmed Chamber of Secrets, but at least the Basilisk fight is still etched in my memory banks.
