10 Marvel & DC Villains Who Deserve Their Own Movie

Fassbender Magneto Everyone is loving superhero movies at the minute - the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in full flow, as is the Spider-Man reboot and the X-Men franchise, while the Dark Knight trilogy was a massive success and the Man of Steel movie has rebooted the DC Cinematic Universe in to a new era that will see the first ever big screen meeting of Batman and Superman in a couple of years. One thing that has become apparent in several of these movies is the popularity of the villains. Heath Ledger's Joker, Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Ian McKellen's Magneto, for example, have emerged as some of the most popular characters in recent cinema history, so maybe it's time to produce more movies that focus on the villains rather than having them as mere supporting characters. Villains tend to just appear out of nowhere in these movies - there's rarely an explanation for their existence and, if there is, it isn't explored. Having a villain as the titular character would allow for this exploration and that's something that would be greatly welcomed in the comic book community. The next Avengers movie is the first superhero movie of recent times to include the name of a villain in its title - it will be subtitled "Age of Ultron" - which would indicate that the evil robot will have a starring role in the film. Could this be the start of a trend? I certainly hope so, because villains are just as interesting as heroes and the origin stories and character development that some of them have had in the comics would make for wonderful movies. On that note, here are ten villains from DC and Marvel who deserve to be given their own movie...
