10 MCU Characters Who Are Skipping Infinity War

Adam Warlock seemed like a prime candidate for the Infinity War roster at one stage. Like Captain Marvel, he exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 confirmed that much with its post-credits shot of his weird looking cocoon from the comic books.

Teasing his MCU arrival gave Marvel the chance to introduce him in the Infinity Saga and rumours they are planning to do exactly that were in circulation for a while.

Guardians director James Gunn has addressed such speculation and confirmed that Warlock will play no part in either of the upcoming Avengers films, though he remains coy out his involvement in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

Admittedly, Warlock's absence from both Avengers 3 and 4 is somewhat conspicuous, considering the character plays in an integral role in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book series, which these movies are loosely based on.

From the sound of things, the role hasn't been cast for the MCU yet, with rumours at one point linking Tom Cruise with it, but surely there are stronger candidates?

Either Jared Padalecki or Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be a better fit for the Silver Age hero, but that's presuming Marvel decides to base their version of the character on his classic incarnation. There's every chance they will reinvent him, as they've done with the likes of Tilda Swinton's Ancient One.
