For many years, when movie fans have been struggling to decide whether the terrible film they€™re watching is just diabolically bad or so bad it€™s good, it€™s been a death scene that€™s provided the tipping point€ where the audience, previously grimacing in boredom or dismay, suddenly bursts out laughing and decides to just go with it. That€™s the first kind of unintentionally hilarious death scene, right there: where a bad movie becomes enjoyable to watch. The flip-side to that is the second type €“ where an otherwise okay, even really good film simply misjudges a death scene on a cosmic level, turning something that could (and probably should) have been taken seriously into a work of comic genius.
