10 Most Disappointing Villains In Movie History

10. Bane - The Dark Knight Rises

Look, I know that The Dark Knight Rises has its issues, and that Bane probably could never have matched up to Heath Ledger's iconic and utterly mesmerising interpretation of the Joker, but - leaving those notions aside and forgetting everything that came before - I'm still left a little cold by Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy's take on this villainous character.

Is it too far gone now to complain about the voice? It is? Okay. Still, I don't think it was Hardy's performance that derailed the character here, but the material he was given to work with.

That's to say, Bane just wasn't given a chance to be very interesting. And I know some people will say it's ridiculous of me to suggest that we actually got to see Bane's face, but c'mon... we're just starring at an expressionless man in a mask for nearly two and a half hours?

Even this villain's death seemed half-assed, as though he was killed off as an afterthought when the plot shifted gears. There are some decent moments to be had with this character, but did he look far more frightening and, well, cooler, in the trailer? Sure did.
