10 Most Horrifically Disturbing Children's Movies Ever Made

vlcsnap-2010-08-12-21h01m31s227 Looking back at the kinds of movies that used to be aimed towards children, I've come to one simple conclusion: kids these days just aren't as tough. Or, at least, they're not given the opportunity to be as tough. It's not their fault or anything... I mean, look at the evidence. For one reason or another, the world was just far more relaxed about what you could and couldn't put into a children's movie in the past. Oh, society, how you've changed. I'm serious, though: children's movies nowadays are all Despicable Me and How To Train Your Dragon. Though those movies are great, they're missing that "I'm never going to be able to sleep again" factor that made kids' movies from the past so damn memorable. Maybe it's insane to suggest that "disturbing" is good, but I'm more interested in the notion that children weren't always pandered to with stories about love and friendship. The fact is: adults are the ones behind children's movies, so of course weird things are going to slip in on occassion. When you grow up and look back at the flicks you watched as a kid, after all, how many times have you found yourself wondering how certain elements made the final cut? Take a look at the children's movies I've gathered up here, all of which were aimed specifically at children - even though they'd probably scare the boots off a hardened war veteran.
