10 Most Laughably Stupid Moments In Films In 2012

Thorin No matter how hard we try to avoid it, stupidity is everywhere. And until my plot to eradicate the stars of Made In Chelsea, TOWIE, Geordie Shore, Jersey Shore and the Transformers films is picked up by the league of Cornish assassins (so many €˜accidental€™ tractor murders), it is probably here to stay. Therefore, rather than despair at this overwhelming intelligence apocalypse, we should embrace the stupidity that surrounds us in the world with open arms, and laugh at how it ruins moments in not only life, but also in cinema. A fair warning that SPOILERS definitely lie ahead. So, without further pontificating on the subject of how stupid the world is, let€™s take a journey through this year€™s most stupid moments in films. And no, the whole of Prometheus isn€™t one of them.

1. Meredith Vickers€™ Death In Prometheus

meredith-vickersThe Moment: Faced with the prospect of escaping a collapsing spaceship that is incredibly long and even more incredibly thin; Meredith Vickers runs away from it in a straight line and is killed by the ship as it plummets to earth. The Stupidity: Come on now, this completely lifted you out of the semi-engulfing finale by pitching the idea of an incredibly successful and intelligent member of the Weyland corporation being unable to fathom that to escape a collapsing space ship you want to get out of its path, not just run in the same direction as the aforementioned collapsing heap of metal. Though we see this kind of empty common sense in so many films; you don€™t really expect it in a film which spends much of its time pondering the meaning and nature of existence, which the film's marketing campaign told us was incredibly intelligent.
