2. The Deacon - Prometheus
Prometheus may not have delivered all of the answers we were hoping for, but it was still a diverting science fiction film even with its share of flaws. One of the most intriguing if not satisfying elements was the ending, which saw the Engineer - who has just been...raped...by a giant squid - have his chest exploded by a creature who turns out to be the so-called "proto-Xenomorph", or as the film's production team came to naming it, The Deacon. Given how brief this sequence is, and how it's the pivotal sequence that the entire movie has been hinging on, plenty of us were left frustrated as we left the cinema, wanting to savour more of the creature that spawned the Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise. Naturally, the home video release facilitated this, allowing us to pore over every inch of the Deacon's physiology and compare it to that of what it would eventually (presumably) evolve to become.
