10 Movie Characters Who Died For A Good Reason

the exorcist Ben Franklin once said that the only certainties we're offered in life are death and taxes. And while movies about taxation law sound pretty boring, death in film can be moving, compelling or shocking. The demise of characters comes in many different flavors. Some are tragic, as in films like Saving Private Ryan, whereas other deaths are merely plot devices used to move the story along and propel the protagonist, as at the beginning of the The Maltese Falcon. And then there are those deaths that are great because they involve bad guys getting blown up. But other deaths are noble - these characters have sacrificed themselves for others, and whether their aims were misguided or truly heroic, the audience always takes notice. Here's 10 movie characters who died for a good reason (spoilers within, obviously...)

10. Anty (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids)

Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Kids-671x310

In Honey I Shrunk the Kids, a scientist formulates a machine which can shrink whatever object it's aimed at. Unfortunately for him, his children and their friends fall prey to the beam, becoming minuscule. Through a series of hazards involving Cheerios and Legos, the kids must dance around the dangers of life under the microscope. While stuck in the yard outside, the children find a pet of sorts in an ant. They ride him (her?) around like a horse as they enjoy a cookie together. Later, while sleeping in the presumed safety of a blue Lego, the children are attacked by a scorpion. Coming to their aid, Anty intercepts the attacking arthropod, receiving mortal wounds in the process.
