9. Todd Phillips Tells 'Hangover III' Detractors, "F*** You!"
The Criticism: The Hangover sequels are a derivative mess of ideas that shamelessly rip off the vastly superior original film merely to milk the cash cow.
The Response: Phillips remarked that "the criticisms were really about the structure - they didn't know how this could happen to the same guys twice. 'Who would ever have a night like that twice?' So we were like, 'Oh yeah? It's going to happen three times. F*** you'." It's the sort of response you'd expect from a guy who has built his career on a trilogy of jokes revolving around child abuse, animal decapitation, tranny hookers and so on, but not exactly a defense of his approach either. It's basically Phillips holding his hands up and saying, "I don't give a damn about the complaints. I'm rich, and you'd do exactly the same thing in my position." To be fair, he's probably right.
