10 Movie Dystopias To Make You Feel Better About The Current Political Hellscape

9. Logan's Run

It should come as no surprise to anyone that we live in a society that worships youth above anything else, putting beauty and vitality on a pedestal while rejecting age and wisdom. But Logan's Run really takes this to extremes.

Basically, everyone has a glowing gem embedded in their hand that keeps track of how old they are. The trouble comes when the gem turns black, because that means you are officially too old to live. You go to "Carrousel," which is just sort of a nice way to say, "murdered horribly." This happens when you reach the ripe old age of 35, by the way.

And while it might sometimes seem appealing to have a few less baby boomers in power making all the decisions, this is still state-sanctioned murder of an entire demographic that we're talking about, which is generally frowned upon in polite society.

Also, the idea of having an entire civilization run solely by people in their 20s is... well, probably fun, but not ideal.
