10 Movie Names With Absolutely Arbitrary Subtitles

9. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator 2 Judgement Day 1991 Firstly, I want to note: this movie is awesome. I mean nothing bad by adding it to this list. It is a fantastic and thrilling action film that defines the genre. But I would like to point out something about the subtitle: when did 'Judgment Day' ever occur in the movie? Never (well, except for a few small flash forwards, but they were nothing more than glimpses). Yes, of course, I know they were trying to prevent Judgment Day, but they were trying to do that in the first and third movies, too. It's just sort of one of those things that kind of makes little sense when you actually think about it. Sure, it's no big deal, but maybe if it was titled something that referenced the inevitability of Judgment Day or how this is a return to the fight against it, things would make more sense. When you look at in through the 'lenses of relevance' to the current film (and in terms of the actual day the movie is set upon), Judgment Day seems about as appropriate as subtitling it 'Christmas Morning' or 'Y2K'. But I guess it's tough to beat a subtitle that implies the end of humanity - in this case, the destined rise of machines as they obliterate all flesh except for those that resist Skynet's domination.
