10 Movie Trilogy Conclusions Fans Are Still Desperate To See

Never mind Pacific Rim 2, what's happened to Hellboy 3?

As any fan of quality television knows, waiting to find out what happens next can be excruciating, especially when faced with the dreaded cliffhanger. But a week between episodes - or even a year between seasons - is nothing compared to what movies fans sometimes have to put up with. If you're lucky, a trilogy will be shot back to back with the subsequent release dates timed at annual intervals, as with the The Lord Of The Rings movies or the Pirates Of The Caribbean sequels (although many fans didn't feel quite so lucky when they saw the finished results). Not all projects are as efficiently organised, and sometimes a trilogy can find itself veering towards development hell before reaching its conclusion, whether on account of poor box office returns, conflicting schedules or putting together a script which actually works for everyone involved. Nobody likes being left hanging by a thread, but the fickle nature of the film industry means that not all trilogies are wrapped up in a timely manner - here are ten movie trilogy conclusions fans are still desperate to see.
