9. New York Ripper (1982)
Dirty Old Pervert of the highest order - Italian director Lucio Fulci - directs an astonishingly nasty film about another Dirty Old Pervert - a Donald Duck voiced killer who is murdering young women in a vicious, sexually sadistic ways - mainly stabbing them through the crotch. Heck, everyone in the film is a dirty pervert. There is a beautiful but debauched woman who goes to live sex shows and masturbates openly. She also lets a teenage boy have toe sex with her. I'm not sure what the point of her being in the film was - probably just to add to the perversion factor. Even the lead detective on the case has a very young looking prostitute girlfriend who gets slowly sliced up by our filthy pervert killer. Fulcio directed a film called Perversion Story, which doesn't include one tenth of the perversion in New York Ripper! Lucio Fulci did some great work (Don't Torture a Duckling, Zombie Flesh Eaters) and some less great work as seen here in New York Ripper. Many who have watched his oeuvre accuse him of misogyny, and this film is decidedly dodgy, showcasing a catalogue of perverse horrors perpetrated by a woman hating maniac. Fulci claimed that he loved women, but in his personal life both his wife and one of his daughters died - and this could have manifested itself as resentment against women. You will hate yourself after watching this film and you will want to bathe in a bath tub full of bleach. An erstwhile Video Nasty which was banned due to the ferocity of the sexualised violence and which is still not available in the UK in its uncut form.
