10 Movies So Bad Their Directors Disowned Them

6. Alien 3 (David Fincher)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFaG3PiQnZQ After two superb, thrilling, violent and terrifying but very different films in Alien and Aliens, the franchise took its first slump with David Fincher's failure Alien 3. It was Fincher's first feature film, after having fashioned a steady career directing commercials and music videos, and though he would go on to make some of the greatest films of the last two decades, his first film had little indication of that later talent, though how much of the blame should rest with Fincher is up for debate. Executives repeatedly thought they knew better than Fincher, stifling his creativity and denying him access to the technical personnel he requested. Furthermore, the script had been mangled to pieces by the time Fincher arrived at the helm, and he was forced to simply deliver the dreck that had been left to fester on the page. Recognising how bad the film was, Fincher notes, "There's nothing worse than hearing somebody say 'Oh, you made that movie? I thought that movie sucked', and you have to agree with them".
