10 Movies Sylvester Stallone Should Have Taken A Bullet To The Head Rather Than Starring In

Sylvester Stallone has had as inconsistent a filmography as any actor, having enjoyed success with the beginnings of his Rocky and Rambo franchises, before casually jettisoning these series with increasingly inferior instalments (though the last Rambo and Rocky films did somewhat regain their rep). However, that's really the least of it; Stallone has had a number of hits outside of his most iconic roles, though he's probably had more flops, especially in recent years, opting for an increasingly desperate and mindless array of action films and thrillers that do little to demonstrate the talent we know he has. You need only take a look at Stallone's stunning monologue at the end of First Blood to remember that he can be a great actor when he wants to be, though these days, he's mostly happy just mining nostalgia and pretending that he's not in his mid-sixties (most notably in his new film, Bullet to the Head, released on February 1st). Here are 10 movies Stallone should have taken a...bullet to the head...rather than starring in (get it?).

10. Judge Dredd

We kick off at number 10 with Stallone's most public and prolific failure, when he donned the iconic helmet and suit to play 2000 AD's most popular comic book creation, Judge Dredd. As a futuristic peace officer keen to dispense instant justice, the role seems like at tight fit for the actor, but it's the concept that's all wrong; the script has absolutely no consideration for the source material whatsoever, evident from the moment that Dredd removes his helmet early on, and keeps it off for the rest of the film (a mistake that is thankfully rectified in the recent Karl Urban-starring Dredd reboot). Stallone isn't exactly terrible in the film - his utterance of "I am the LAW!" is certainly fun to watch - but pretty much everything around him is, especially Rob Schneider before Hollywood realised that he was an annoying jackass.
