10 Movies That Deserve Prequels

Oceans 11 In a world that celebrates new songs sung over the music of past hits, there is nothing that better portrays the loss of originality than the Hollywood phenomenon of the remake and prequel. Production companies love capitalizing on the success of original films by making and selling the idea of what could have happened before that led to the original. There are lists and lists of the worst prequel€™s in history including Hannibal Rising, Dumb and Dumberer, and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. You can search for them online and realize that what we have been given to watch is nothing but a paycheck for its producers. I, however, have come up with a few movies that deserve prequels! That really and truly would benefit from having prequels because, not only would they be good and integral to their original€™s plots, but they would make a lot of money at the box office. Hollywood, take a memo. The next big idea could be laying in the following pages.

10. The Italian Job

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvj9vhA8ixY When it first came out, The Italian Job was a very popular movie based around Marky Mark and his ability to gather the members of his once heisting family to steal back what was €œrightfully€ theirs. Edward Norton plays the antagonist, which isn€™t a common role for him, but he did a great job of portraying a person that we love to hate. Back this all up with the beautiful and smart Charlize Theron and you€™ve got a stellar cast with an action packed plot. The Prequel: Go back a few years to when Marky Mark is the new kid on the block (like that?) and Edward Norton is still a part of the pack. Donald Sutherland gets more screen time and we get to see the bond that develops between him and Marky Mark, watching as Edward Norton becomes callous and bitter, plotting the demise of his team. It would be nice to see what Norton€™s character was like before he became evil and homicidal and the realization that Donald Sutherland was as important as we are told would make his untimely death in the original have a greater impact.
