10 Movies That Will Make You Happy To Be Alive

His-Girl-Friday Film is an art form that has the rare ability to make a viewer go through an entire myriad of emotions in just 90 minutes. It's truly amazing what a highly skilled filmmaker can make you feel for people and situations that don't exist and will never exist. For this reason I wanted to take a break from the usual doom and gloom I tend to write about it and focus on the exact opposite. Any film buff can attest to the fact that watching an uplifting movie is one of the greatest feelings that someone can experience given the fact that it is very difficult to find a movie so uplifting that it is actually life affirming. While this list does feature some "feel good" movies the majority of the entries here were chosen because each and every one of them has that rare ability to make you feel happy no matter what situation you may be in. Every movie here is tested and approved by yours truly and I hope you enjoy the list.

10. (500) Days of Summer

500_days_of_summer (500) Days of Summer is a very unique and interesting romantic comedy because it subverts all of the cliches of the genre while also reveling in them. The plot trades ridiculous moments and unbelievable characters for real, fully and realized ones which is a breath of fresh air when watching a movie in any genre. The film makes it very apparent that it is not a story of boy meets girl and it's all the better for it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel share amazing chemistry together which really adds to the depth of the movie and makes for an enjoyable all around viewing experience. The fact that the story is so believable and well told is really (500) Days of Summer's greatest strength. The non-linear structure is something totally unexpected in modern movies but when it's used to help the story like it is here it makes everything that much more interesting.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
