10 Niggling Worries Over Marvel's Next 10 Movies

A long and potentially troubling road lies ahead.

Generally speaking, Marvel Studios have been quite consistent with their output over the past decade. When it comes to making movies, they're pretty damn good at it. No, not every film is a masterpiece, but it's rare that the studio will drop the ball to such an extent that fans are compelled to bay for blood. Even Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World didn't really manage that.

That doesn't make it easy to put a stop to all our worries during the build-up to each and every upcoming Marvel film, though. With so many aspects that could go wrong - from questionable casting decisions to obscure plot twists - there's always something to be nervous about. Call it the precedent of abusive relationships with other big studio franchises, maybe.

Looking at the films in the pipeline, there's a good chance that Marvel are going to trip up somewhere - and it could happen with any of the movies in their upcoming release slate, especially as the MCU propels itself towards a huge climax and the continuity of the X-Men films becomes even more incomprehensible.

We must have faith that the studio will deliver, of course, but on various grounds it's hard to put some niggling concerns completely to bed...

10. Will Robert Downey Jr. Steal The Limelight? - Spider-Man: Homecoming

At first, the idea of having Tony Stark as an integral part of upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming seemed like a great idea. Going by what the studio have allowed us to glimpse thus far, Stark will be continue his role as a kind of mentor character for Peter Parker, which seems like a natural progression.

But Spider-Man: Homecoming is a Spider-Man movie, and given that it's the first solo Spider-Man movie in the MCU canon, it really needs to feel like one. The most recent trailer showcased a film that appears to be heavily reliant on the growing dynamic between Peter and Tony, with the latter's inclusion feeling like the result of studio worries.

Were Marvel fearful audiences wouldn't flock to another Spider-Man movie unless they threw an Avenger into the mix to spice things up?

Robert Downey Jr. is a huge screen presence, though, and worried fans are right to be concerned that his involvement here could steal the attention away from Tom Holland. Here's hoping the trailer isn't all that representative of the final product and that it actually overplayed the actor's total screen-time.
