10 Oscars The Marvel Cinematic Universe Should Have Won In A Fair World

Because comic book movies are just as worthy as biopics.

Imagine a world where it doesn't matter to Oscar what a film's genre is. Imagine a world where Oscar voting - across all categories - actually took into account all of the films from the previous year, rather than just the ones that were serious (and borderline pretentious), self-important (and pretentious), or 'prestigey' (read: dull). Imagine a world where there was actually a reason for the horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action or comedy filmmaking crowds to show up to the ceremony. In this world, superhero movies, along with all the cast and crew who were involved in the making of them, are not just technically, but actually, genuinely eligible for Academy Awards. One of the best-reviewed movies from 2014 was Guardians Of The Galaxy, but the film received just two technical noms and zero wins at the 2015 Oscars. Taking another look at each and every picture made so far under the Marvel banner, it seems like there'd have been far more awards success had Academy voters actually bothered to notice how well-made and well-performed they were. For this particular list, you have to for the moment picture another world, a fair world, where movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe were judged fairly alongside the likes of The Help, The Imitation Game, and all the other boring crap the Academy prefers to recognise. Listed here are 10 potential contenders in that fair world.
