So, I've been watching a lot of horror movies lately and if there's one thing I've noticed it's that the same wounds are repeatedly inflicted in them all (after all, there are only so many different ways to hurt somebody, right?). These wounds are often the catalyst of wincing and cringing on the part of the viewer - after all, that's the idea - and make the build-up to the victim's inevitable death that much more excruciating to watch. Of course, I'm not talking about wounds that instantly kill - such as decapitations - because, as gruesome as they are, they are quick and relatively painless. I'm talking about wounds that don't kill instantly and cause a lot of pain for the victim - whether they ultimately cause the death of the recipient or not.
