9. "...About His Mother" - Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi was a divisive film to say the least. Some enjoyed the latest instalment in the Skywalker Saga whilst others signed petitions calling for the film to be remade. Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on, The Last Jedi is a greatly entertaining film despite its saga-specific faults.
The Last Jedi opens with a bizarre scene between General Hux of the First Order and The Resistance's Poe Dameron which is both painfully bad and downright odd. Dameron is trying to stall for time and contacts Hux in what is essentially a prank call. It's a strange creative choice that transforms the threatening First Order into a bunch of bumbling idiots but that isn't even the worst of it.
Dameron toys with Hux for some time and ends by stating, "tell him [Hux] Leia has an urgent message for him … about his Mother." Confused? Same. I think we all thought Star Wars had stooped to its lowest low in The Phantom Menace which used Jar Jar Binks stepping in faeces as a source of the film's humour but here we are in 2018 using cheap, 'Your Mom' jokes that feel so out of place, they're definitely not funny.
