Why that controversial first trailer shouldn't turn you off the latest dino adventure.

The first trailer for the belated, long-awaited sequel to Jurassic Park 3 finally hit the web this past Tuesday, and rather surprisingly, the fan response to the first glimpse at Jurassic World has been pretty divisive. Take Sam Hill's own article covering 8 disconcerting things about the trailer, making it clear that the initial look at the fourth Jurassic Park movie isn't exactly setting the world on fire in terms of anticipation. Still, it's also important to have some perspective and appreciate that this less-than-amazing first trailer is no reason to get needlessly worried about the movie. After all, everyone has seen a movie following a not-so-great trailer (or even a series of trailers) and been pleasantly surprised: just look at Edge of Tomorrow from earlier this year, a great movie undermined by a crappy marketing campaign. Granted, this is just the first of surely several trailers to be pumped out ahead of Jurassic World's release, so if the next few trailers also fail to get the blood pumping, then perhaps the concern might seem a little more justified.
