10 Reasons Suicide Squad Sucked More Than Batman V Superman

8. It's Too Reliant On Pop Music

The first half of the movie in particular suffers from sounding like a jukebox: David Ayer basically shoves in pop song after pop song in order to make the film seem hip and fun, regardless of whether the songs actually fit or not.

Hence we get a montage of the team getting ready set incongruously to Eminem's "Without Me", while a bunch of other scenes would play much better without any music whatsoever. It comes off as desperately pandering, and trying to create the same kitschy tone as Guardians of the Galaxy...but with about 20 more songs thrown in for good measure.

Furthermore, because the film relies so heavily on pop songs, Steven Price's score doesn't even make a dent, and it's unlikely you'll remember much, if anything, from it. Compare this to BvS, which even its detractors will agree had some killer, memorable leitmotifs, such as Lex's sinister theme and Wonder Woman's insanely kick-a** entrance music.
