10 Reasons Why Batman TV Show MUST Follow The Dark Knight Rises

It has been over 40 years since Batman first appeared on television. The Adam West and Burt Ward starring show of the 60's was the first and last live action Batman TV show that has ever been made. Since then we have seen two more Superman series', a Superboy series, a Wonder Woman series, a Flash series and even a Birds of Prey series. There have also been two good Tim Burton directed Batman films, 3 great Christopher Nolan helmed Batman films and a fantastic Batman animated series, often regarded as the greatest animated series of all time. Batman is more popular than ever due to the success of the Nolan film trilogy, which has now sadly come to an end. We could be about to embark on a dark period in The Caped Crusader's history, but the darkest night is followed by the dawn. It is time for a new Batman. It is time for a new Batman live action TV show. Here's ten reasons why... Note: Please be gentle. This is the first article I have written for What Culture.

10. Marvel is Moving Into TV

It was recently announced that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving into television in the form of a S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, spearheaded by The Avengers director Joss Whedon. Marvel Studios has been very strategic, and successful, in the development of their cinematic universe and the decision to move into television is also strategic. Obviously Marvel believes that there is money to be made in television or that there is substantial value in television through brand recognition. Warner Bros/DC Comics are aware of the value of television. Smallville ran for ten seasons, and the forthcoming Arrow TV series is highly anticipated. A TV series based on the origin of Wonder Woman called Amazon is also in development. While all of these WB/DC shows are good, they are not Batman. It is debatable whether Arrow will be a better TV show than S.H.I.E.L.D. A Batman TV show however would blow S.H.I.E.L.D. away and is the logistical step forward for the character to keep the exposure of DC Comics Universe on our screens and not allow Marvel to dominate the audience.
