Remember last year when it emerged that beloved American actor, director, writer, producer, and all round awesome guy Kevin Spacey would lower himself in order to voice a selfish businessman who transforms into a sardonic feline in a non-ironic film titled "Nine Lives"?

Remember when this really happened and we collectively agreed Hollywood had gone full-on insane?

Well, it turns out that Nine Lives wasn't just an isolated moment of delirium that we could all sweep under the carpet and try to erase from our memories: Hollywood is intent on continuing this fun tradition for a variety of roles in a range of wacky, upcoming films due out over the span of 2017, all of which are weird, unexpected, or bound to make you incredibly uncomfortable when you realise they're real.

This is the world we have created for ourselves, people, and so now we have no choice but to plough onwards and face the consequences. If you thought that Kevin Spacey in Nine Lives was somewhat odd, wait until you get a load of these...

10. David Beckham - King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword

Who's the last person you'd expect to play an ugly gang leader in a medieval action film? David Beckham? Precisely! Except, that's actually happening.

Beckham is reportedly playing a character called "Blackleg Leader" (with lines and everything) in the upcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, presumably for no other reason than he's David Beckham and why not?

Rumour has it Beckham's character will to try and remove the infamous sword from the stone in Guy Ritchie's take on the King Arthur legend, complete with facial scars and a mouth full of teeth that even the most optimistic dentist would want to avoid.

Ritchie has a thing for Beckham cameo performances, of course; the footballer turned fashion icon popped up in the director's last film, too: Beckham played the role of a projectionist in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in a tiny part that was just as forgettable as the film itself. Here's hoping his character this time around will have a bit more heft.
