10 Shocking Twists That Would Ruin 2016's Biggest Movies

Please, please, please don't have a Fant4stic/X-Men crossover.

Hype will be the end of us. We've still got some massive movies to come in 2015 (Bond! Star Wars! Oscar Bait!), but already eyes are looking past that excitement and into the new year. And, as fun as the long-running speculation can be, this is actually becoming a big problem with current blockbuster films - all too often a film's hype machine has been in full drive for so long that by the time it's actually released audiences, particularly the those of us who live the whole process on the internet, can be a bit passé about the finished product (for reference, we're still three years away from the already heavily-hyped first part of Avenger: Infinity War). Filmmakers and studios know this all too well and are doing their all to make sure their movie stands out and becomes a cultural phenomenon, rather than the one that people talk about only because of how much money it lost. Producing a great movie is a solid way to achieve this, but in lieu of that throwing out a curve-ball can be a good back-up; shock the audience, defy expectations and, if you're lucky, everyone will be discussing it for months after. This has become increasingly common in recent years, as reboots and sequels include twist after twist in an attempt to try and keep franchises fresh. And, despite mixed results (think Iron Man 3 with the Mandarin or Star Trek Into Darkness with Khan), don't expect this convention-messing to stop any time soon. Let's just hope that those highly anticipated 2016 movies don't do anything too rubbish...
