10 Superhero Films That Abused Us Worse Than Fantastic Four

7. Superman Returns

Man Of Steel gets a lot of stick for its brutal ending, over-reliance on blowing things up and rookie Superman who frequently forgets that he should be saving people instead of punching Zod all around the place. Rather that, however, than Bryan Singer's Rose-lensed replay of the Christopher Reeve classics. This gets us a mopey Superman who spends most of his time spying on Lois, a cartoon Lex Luthor (whose grand plan is yet another land grab!) and the complete waste of poor Brandon Routh. Like Hulk, enough care and attention went into Superman Returns that it shouldn't be on this list - and functions just fine in a vacuum - but as a Superman movie, it's simply terrible. Everyone involved does their best, but the film should have worked harder on crafting its own identity rather than slavishly replicating that of an adaptation from 1978. As for the super baby? There are no excuses.
