10 Superhero Films That Abused Us Worse Than Fantastic Four

5. Batman & Robin

Now the infamously bad sequel that killed off the Batman franchise for years. While it's fun to watch now (if ironically and with a few beers) Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin is a movie which largely deserves its reputation as one of the worst comic book movies of all time. There's an argument that it works well as an adaptation of the sixties Adam West series rather than the graphic nobel Bat we all know and love now, but that doesn't explain the headaches, the nausea and the irritation. Worse, it ruins Bane (who in the comics at the time was a criminal mastermind), turning him into a mute idiot designed only to do Poison Ivy's bidding for the whole film. Still, rather mute than spouting one liners like everyone else. In addition to the practically middle aged Robin, it adds the awful Alicia Silverstone Batgirl into the fray, threatening audiences with a Bat Family that, thankfully, would never come. Batman & Robin may be one of the more spirited films on this list, but it remains one of the hardest to watch.
