10 Supporting Movie Villains Who Were The Real Antagonist

9. Nedry - Jurassic Park

Bane The Dark Knight Rises

Jurassic Park's most terrifying moments all feature dinosaurs - smart, large, vicious - coming for our heroes with a speed and ferocity like nothing else on Earth.

Dinosaurs, though, aren't actually good or bad. They just are. Sure, the velociraptors are portrayed as smart and cunning, but so is your cat. Hunting mice doesn't make the cat evil. It's just an animal, getting some food. It's the same as you driving to Burger King. So when a bunch of giant dinosaurs go rampaging through a facility, eating random animals (including humans), it's not really their fault. That's like getting mad at ants for eating a steak you left in the yard for a week. It's on you.

Which is why the main villain of Jurassic Park is actually Nedry. Sure, you can argue it's the company that hired him, but all they wanted was a bit of corporate espionage - just for him to steal some stuff, and sneak away. Nedry had to go all out, though.

He decided to wait until there were visitors - for the first time, ever! - and then turned off everything, including things that had nothing to do with cameras or fences he needed to pass through. He put so, so many people's lives in danger, when he could have just waited 'til there were less people there, or better yet, just been smarter about stealing stuff.

Instead he let every single animal in the park loose to get their chomp on.
