10 Talented People Who Should Never Have Been Allowed To Direct Movies

Maximum Overdrive Stephen King The popular saying goes: everyone should be allowed to direct a movie at least once. Or, no, not at all, actually, because I just made that saying up, and there's no way in hell that just anybody should be allowed to direct a movie, because that's one of the most insane things ever written down anywhere - why do you put up with this garbage? Anyway, on occassion, an opportunity will arise which allows somebody who should be doing absolutely anything but directing a motion picture to suddenly be doing so, helming a project with actors and explosions and everything. This, as you can imagine, doesn't always turn out well. In fact, it rarely turns out well, because people who have no training or skills or reason to be behind the camera are now in charge of one of the most notoriously difficult creative processes around, and tell us again why this is happening, Mr. Producer? Even if a certain individual is talented in another arena - be it acting, singing, writing or backflipping from heights - it doesn't mean that they posses the qualifications required to guide a legitimate movie production. It takes years - decades, even - to reach that point. Which presumably slipped the minds of the people who thought it'd be okay to put these 10 otherwise brilliant or talented individuals in the director's chair, just to "see what happened." Memo to world: stop allowing this sort of thing to take place. It's not fair on anyone, okay?
